Sentinel Opens The Door To More Affordable Homes in the Rushmoor Borough
7 December 2006 -
In line with the governments objective to increase the range and supply of affordable accommodation, Sentinel Housing Association has recently delivered 12 new high quality affordable homes in the Rushmoor borough.
To celebrate the creation of the new homes at Guillemont Fields in Pyestock, officials from Rushmoor Borough Council were last week (Tuesday December 6) taken on a tour of Sentinels brand new homes in Chestnut Tree Grove and Maple Avenue.
The tour, led by Sentinel chairman Charles Kaye OBE, was attended by 20 people including the deputy mayor of Rushmoor councillor Roger Kimber, Rushmoor Borough Councils head of housing Alison Whiteley, local councillors and some of the new residents.
Sentinel worked in partnership with Rushmoor Borough Council, Annington Homes and developers Wates to build the modern featured homes. Ten of the homes, which are now fully occupied, have been built for low-cost rent occupation, consisting of two 4-bedroom houses, six 3-bedroom houses, and two 2-bedroom houses. Two of the properties - both 2-bedroom houses - are available for shared ownership (part-buy/part-rent).
Funding for the scheme has come from Sentinel (£1,502,330) and a grant from Rushmoor Borough Council (£563,300).
Sentinel chairman Charles Kaye OBE said: "It has been a pleasure to work with all our partners on this excellent project, all of whom have worked very hard to achieve these high-quality homes. We are especially pleased with the house designs and finishes and hope all the tenants are delighted with the outcome."
Chestnut Tree Grove resident Tammy Taylor who has recently moved into her home with her family, said: "Thanks to Sentinel, my family and I have a nice new home. We all love it and I am particularly happy with the design and size of the house.
Councillor Kimber said: "We are very pleased to have worked with Sentinel Housing Association and I am delighted to see the completion of these new affordable homes. Rushmoor looks forward to working with Sentinel in the future building more quality affordable homes for local people.
