Day to day life

Question

Can visitors buy meals in the restaurant?
Answer Yes, charges apply.
 

Question

Are visitors allowed to park within the scheme?
Answer We are unable to offer visitor parking, there is ample parking facilities nearby.
  

Question

I will not be able to carry out small maintenance or decoration tasks myself, is there any help with this?
Answer Repairs to the apartments will be carried out by Sentinel as this is our responsibility. If you need help with decorating and handyman type services, staff on site will assist you to find some help to do this.
 
Question I'd like to do some gardening - can I do this?
Answer Yes, we will aim to work with residents to ensure they are able to carry on with hobbies/pastimes.
 
Question Can I have my own carers?
Answer We ask that your care be transferred from your current provider to the care team based at campbell Place.
 
Question Can I have a pet?
Answer Sentinel policy does not allow for cats or dogs unless they are hearing/sight support. Small caged animals are allowed.
 
Question How do I dispose of my household waste?
Answer There is a specified bin store at the side of the scheme. For those residents who are unable to remove their rubbish themselves, we would ask that family do this on their behalf. If there is no family support, this should be considered at time of assessment as you may be eligible to receive support with this task.
 
Question Can I have satellite or Cable TV?
Answer A communal, digital aerial installation allows access to Sky services. Virgin and Cable services will not be accessible at Campbell Place. The phone lines are BT only.
 
Question What is the new name for Campbell Close?
Answer Campbell Place.

Money

Question We've been told that people would be given a cash amount to help with removal costs - is this true?
Answer Successful applicants who are downsizing from family homes (2 or 3 bedroom) may be entitled to an ‘Under Occupation’ grant. Sentinel residents who moved on a temporary basis from Campbell or Curtis Court will receive a disturbance allowance that covers the cost of removals.
 
Question What's the council tax costs?
Answer Hart District Council are in the process of calculating the Council Tax charge. This information will be available before the end of August.
 
Question My mother only eats a little, she doesn't need six meals per week. What's the situation here, can she get a discount?
Answer The meal service at Campbell Place forms part of the tenancy agreement, there are no discounted rates. On occasion, if a resident does not wish to partake of a meal, they will be issued with a voucher for a meal replacement at a later date.
 
Question How do I pay my rent - direct debit?
Answer The preferred method is by direct debit, we also accept Allpay payments or cheques can be posted to the main Sentinel office.
 
Question When do I start paying rent?
Answer Rent is payable from the tenancy start date.
 
Question

How much will lunch cost in the restaurant?

Answer

Meal charges for residents are detailed in the charging sheet that accompanies the Campbell Place brochure.

 
Question How much of the service charge is not covered by housing benefit?
Answer Housing Benefit will not cover the cost of your apartment utilities, the ancillary charge or the full cost of the meal service. Your benefit entitlement will be based on your individual financial circumstances.

Building design

Question

Will curtain poles be provided?

Answer

Curtain tracks have been fitted for convenience, the kitchen window has a wooden blind for privacy.

Question Can I have the dimensions for the windows in the flats?
Answer A number of apartments have windows of a similar size, however some apartments have additional side windows. We will give you the opportunity to view apartments and measure windows once you are allocated a home.
 
Question Will my mum/dad get lost while using the lift - will she/he be able to manage it?
Answer There are two lifts at Campbell Place, each has been fitted with a ‘call’ button in case of emergencies. Each floor in Campbell Place has also been colour coded to assist with memory.
 
Question Are there carpets in the flats?
Answer Yes the carpets are laid in all areas other than bathroom and kitchen. The carpets are a neutral colour (beige mix).
 
Question Do I need to bring my own fridge freezer and cooker?
Answer The apartments have built in eye level ovens and hob, (electric)s. You will need to supply your own fridge/freezer.
 
Question

Will I have an allocated parking space, I have a blue badge?

Answer There will be no allocated parking. The blue badge system only works in public parking areas so will not apply at Campbell Place. There is no visitor parking within the scheme. However there are public car parks nearby.
 
Question Will there be any shrubs planted along the footpath to provide privacy?
Answer Yes, planting will consist of a ‘Native Hedge’ mix to provide screening for the apartments on the ground floor.

Applying and moving in

Question We do a lot for Mum/Dad now, she/he doesn't have a care package, will she/he still be eligible?
Answer Applicants who do not receive formal care packages will be assessed as low need primarily. Care & Support assessments will be carried out as part of the Extra Care application process. Please see the eligibility criteria.
 
Question I don't have a care need at present but think I will soon, can I still be considered to move in?
Answer Yes. See the "Who gets priority" page for more information.
 
Question My mother has dementia, is there going to be a problem with signing the tenancy?
Answer If applicants are able to understand the terms and conditions of the tenancy, there will not be a problem. If we have concerns that an applicant who has dementia is incapable of making a decision about whether or not a move would be in their best interest, we may ask for a mental capacity assessment to be carried out.
 
Question I have a high care need, when would I be likely to move in?
Answer The care provision will be available from 1 September 2011, your care needs should not delay your move. When to apply
