Want a job in development? Graduate Trainee opportunity

14 May 2007 -

Sentinel Housing Association has announced its first graduate training scheme, giving one lucky candidate the opportunity to train as a Development Project Manager.

Due to the shortage of good development staff within the sector, Sentinel decided that the most logical way to grow the department is to nurture and cultivate those who have studied  the subject area and are keen to gain more hands on experience.

The two-year, tailor made scheme will see the chosen graduate immersing themselves in the housing industry, gaining exposure to public and private developers and picking up a raft of commercial and personal skills. They will quickly make the Project Manager title their own by leading on projects that will make a lasting difference to peoples lives.

Tina Wilkinson has worked for Sentinel for five years as a Development Project Manager and says: The biggest draw for someone, in my eyes, would be getting into project management. This is such a transferable skill learning the processes, managing your time, budgets, dealing with contracts and contractors and all the liaison that takes place.

Sentinel will spend around 12 million over the next three years to build over 250 new homes, so this is an exciting time to join the organisation.

Human Resources Advisor Jennifer White said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to get into the development domain, who currently doesnt have the hands-on experience to secure a project management position."
