Get With
What is Get With?
In 2005 Sentinel launched Get With, a youth activity scheme for young people between the ages of 8 and 16 years old. Throughout the school holidays, Sentinel runs various fun activity sessions for children, all of which are free of charge to attend. All activities are run by organisations specialising in youth activities and range from sporting and dance activities to arts and crafts and games.
Where does Get With take place?
Get With takes place at different destinations across Basingstoke, Hart and Rushmoor. Throughout 2007, Sentinel aims to roll it out across its other neighbourhoods.
Who can take part?
The scheme is generally open to children aged between 11 and 16 years old and the scheme at Blackwater is for children aged between 8 and 16 years old. Any children living in the local area can take part in the activities as long as they are within the correct age group.
The aim of the scheme is to help tackle youth nuisance and has already resulted in reduced anti-social behaviour during school holiday periods. Also by providing team sports we have found young people are less likely to cause a nuisance or get into trouble during and after 'Get With...' activities.
