More affordable homes for Andover
A major investment by the Homes and Communities Agency has enabled award-winning landlord Sentinel Housing Association to begin an ambitious new p rogramme to increase affordable homes in Andover.
Sentinel is to deliver 154 rented or shared ownership properties at East Anton Farm - part of Andover's large-scale town extension plan.
The £20m project is the first of three schemes aimed at making headway in the waiting list for affordable homes in Test Valley, and marks Sentinel's first development in the Andover area. The first of the new homes were occupied in summer 2009.
Great new communities
Executive Director Val Bagnall said: "We're already well known for getting residents involved in their communities to create great places to live, and we believe our success in Basingstoke can be replicated in Andover.
"We're really looking forward to welcoming hundreds of new families, couples, and individuals into our high quality new homes."
David Edwards, South East Regional Director for the Homes and Communities Agency said: "Investing £11m to help meet the needs of affordable housing, to buy or rent, in Andover is extremely important.
"The HCA will be bringing forward funding to help increase the provision of homes across the country, and we look forward to seeing the first of the Andover homes ready for occupation in August."
As well as providing energy efficient family houses and apartments, Andover's new Sentinel residents can look forward to a package of help, from cheap contents insurance and affordable loans, through to choosing designer kitchens, and help setting up a resident association.
