Regional awards recognise quality regeneration

North Hampshire’s biggest landlord recently received regional recognition for it’s regeneration of an outdated rural housing estate. Sentinel’s £24m project to redevelop the Bishops Green estate near Newbury was nominated by BDBC for the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) South East Awards.
Sentinel’s developer, Hill Partnerships was named a finalist in two categories for the first phase of the regeneration scheme - Best Affordable or Social Housing Scheme, and Best Development over 11 units.
Steve Peach Project Manager for the scheme said:” It was great to hear Bishops Green had been nominated and listed as a finalist in two categories. When we heard it had won the award for Best Development Over 11+ units we were delighted, especially as we were up against developers of multi-million pound city apartments and plush golf resort style housing schemes. I think we’ve shown that affordable housing truly can be of the highest standards.“
Sentinel is demolishing 95 outdated houses at Bishops Green, and replacing them with 148 new high quality homes for rent, shared ownership, and sale. The development won the award due the high quality of workmanship, attention to detail, and close liaison with building control throughout the project.
Chief Executive Martin Nurse added: “We’re delighted to receive this recognition we have a long track record of reinvigorating communities and these projects can be incredibly complex and time-consuming, but are well worth it when you see the transformation at the end.”
