More affordable homes for Farnborough

Local people have started moving into 23 new affordable homes delivered by Sentinel Housing Association.

Sentinel teamed up with local firm Cove Construction and Rushmoor Borough Council to redevelop Cove's old office site in Victoria Road - just a stone's throw from the town centre.

The £6m Amber Gardens project is made up of 16 family houses Our new homes in Farnborough have been well receivedrented by Sentinel, and a further seven 2 bedroom apartments for part-buy part-rent. The latter have all been reserved.

Sentinel Chief Executive Martin Nurse said: "We're well aware that the recession has put more pressure on waiting lists, so we're delighted to be able to provide 16 family homes for rent.

"Also, the fact that all the shared ownership apartments have been reserved confirms with our figures elsewhere to demonstrate that confidence, and more importantly credit, is returning to the market."

Councillor Francis Williams, Rushmoor Borough Council's Cabinet member for Health and Housing, said: "We are really pleased with this development. The mixture of rented and shared ownership homes it is providing is especially important at this time of economic downturn. The homes are also well located close to the town centre, which makes them convenient for residents and will help to support the town centre economy."

Amber Gardens is the third project Cove and Sentinel have worked on together in Farnborough, and Rushmoor Council assisted to ensure the homes were prioritised for people with local connections to Farnborough.
