Much needed homes built in Crondall
10 July 2007 -
A former garage site in Crondall has been developed into three much needed homes by Sentinel Housing Association.
The site in Green Springs has been redeveloped to provide three two-bedroom affordable homes for local people by Sentinel Housing Association in partnership with Hart District Council.
The homes were built using timber frame technology with brick facing to fit in with the surroundings. They each feature a lounge, dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The development incorporated on site parking for five cars and the formation of a parking bay providing six additional parking spaces in Ashley Close.
Paul Richards, New Business Manager at Sentinel, said: The completion of these three new modern houses represents the successful result of collaboration between Hart District Council, Crondall Parish Council, the Housing Corporation and Sentinel to deliver much needed affordable new family homes for local people.
The homes which cost just over £350,000 to build were funded by Sentinel Housing Association, Hart District Council and a Recycled Capital Grant approved by the Housing Corporation.
Hart District Councillor, John Bennison, said: "I welcome this very important initiative which gives local people an opportunity that they may otherwise not have, to find a suitable home in the village. It is a great example of what can be achieved when the Council and local housing associations work together."
Cabinet Member for Housing at Hart District Council, Susan Band, said: More affordable housing is badly needed in Crondall and these three houses are a welcome contribution to this need. I am pleased that Hart's partnership with Sentinel and the Parish Council has resulted in this success."
