Sentinel ‘open house’ for 500th new home
We're holding 'open house' to celebrate handing over the keys on 500 new affordable homes during the economic downturn.
At Popley's Marnel Park on July 29 2010, councillors and local housing professionals will be dropping by to help the local landlord mark the milestone of 500 homes since the UK went into recession. More than half the new homes are in Basingstoke & Deane.
The latest new homes on display are fitted with green technology as part of Sentinel's commitment to cutting customers' energy bills - such as solar panels and air-source heat pumps - making them 25% more energy efficient than a standard house*.
Chief Executive Martin Nurse said: "We've built more new affordable properties than ever before, with a big focus on family homes.
"It's fair to say that we couldn't have done so much without the government subsidy we've received, and while we're marking this milestone, we are aware that this is unlikely to continue at recent levels. However despite these difficult conditions we are committed to providing high quality homes for the communities we serve."
In Basingstoke, the keys to new affordable homes for rent or part-buy part-rent have been handed over by Sentinel at Limes Park, Marnel Park, Bramley, and Kempshott. Nearly 150 of these have been handed over as part of the £15m regeneration of Popley Poets and the £20m revamp of Bishops Green, near Newbury.
We've been working at Marnel Park since December 2008 and will have delivered 96 homes by the end of August 2010.
Our development team will be on hand to answer questions about current and future building projects.
