Adapting your home to you

As we get older, day to day tasks often become more difficult.  Simple every day tasks such as bathing, negotiating steps or getting in and out of your home can become huge obstacles.

There are lots of different ways we can adapt your home to you, from grab rails to stair lifts.

How do I apply for aids and adaptations to my home?

There are two types of aids and adaptations, minor works and major works.

Minor Works: Small adaptations costing under £500 will be undertaken by Sentinel.  This may include grab rails, stair rails, lever taps or porta bells.  We will aim to complete work within 28 days.  For more information please contact our Customer Service Centre on our freephone number: 0800 195 5515.

Major Works: Any work costing over £500 and up to a maximum of £30,000 may be funded by your Local Authority.  Adaptations may include a stair lift or low access shower.  Sentinel will work with the Local Authority to ensure adaptations are completed in a timely manner.  For more information please contact our Customer Service Centre who discuss you needs, and if necessary refer you to Occupational Therapy Direct.
