Sod turning ceremony - Rosefield Court
September 13 2006 -
Sentinel Housing Association will be hosting a Sod Turning Ceremony at Rosefield Court on Thursday 14 September.
Rosefield Court is Sentinel Housing Association's existing sheltered accommodation scheme in Hartley Wintney, which was built in 1987. It currently consists of 41 flats, including mobility standard and wheelchair properties and boasts on-site care staff, a 24-hour resident manager, community alarm service and a lounge, guest facilities, laundry and garden.
Sentinel has been granted planning permission for an extension to accommodate 16 additional units for the elderly, comprising of 12 x 1-bed apartments and 4 x 2-bed flats. The extension will also include a new lift, a room for charging mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs, level access showers, garden terraces and balconies. Flats will have built-in wardrobes and generous storage cupboards.
The scheme will cost a total of GBP1.5m and the Housing Corporation have allocated a GBP1,040,000 grant for the scheme. It is expected the units will be completed by July 2007.
This is the first new accommodation within Sentinel's strategic review of sheltered provision within the Hart District and Rosefield Court will be the first of Sentinels sheltered housing schemes to be modernised as part of a major programme to review and improve its facilities for older people in line with the Government's Decent Homes Standard.
The project will see Sentinel providing more homes which are bigger, more suitable for people with disabilities and have the modern facilities needed for older people.
